Former Arlington High School head softball coach Tommy Edmundson passed away on Saturday morning. He had coached there since 1971 and coached softball at AHS from 1993-2009. Tommy was a great friend to softball coaches throughout the state of Texas and served our sport in many capacities from serving on committees to starting the Texas Fastpitch Coaches Organization. He was a friend of mine and I, along with many of you, will miss him very much.
He started the Coaches Choice, Inc, before his retirement and represented the company at numerous coaching conventions (THSCA, TGCA, THSBCA, Gulf Coast SB Clinic, etc).
He was diagnosed with ALS and from talking to him a couple of months ago, he was still fighting the disease as hard as he could.
Here is the obituary from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:

Thomas, also known as "Tommy," "Coach Ed," or "Ched," had a passion for family, friends, work and life in general. He was best known for his passion for coaching. He coached in the Arlington school district for 35 years. His last 15 years were spent at Arlington High School coaching his favorite sport of girls softball. He will be remembered by his huge network of coaches throughout the entire state as well as the thousands of students whose lives he touched. He was a friend to all who knew him, a mentor to the many who had the privilege of playing for him; a loving husband and a father to we select few who called him "Dad." Tommy left his mark on all of us. He will be remembered by all who loved him for his complete selflessness and his love of the game! He will be sincerely missed. "And when my life was over and my gamut run, I'd thank God for my freedom, country, friends and son." Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Carmela; children, Brett, Leah, Cambria, John, Nicholas and Victoria; grandchildren, Lindsey, Caden, Mackenzie and Beau.
