I will be out of touch until Wednesday night or Thursday morning as my aunt passed away last night. That is my mother’s last living sibling and she isn’t taking it too well and I am needed to help my mother and father and my other relatives cope with our loss. I will be in the Brazoria area for a couple of days, but I will not have internet access with my laptop – just intermittent access with my iPhone. We will host a 5 team round robin at D.S. and Lake Travis will also host a 5 team round robin......on Sturday afternoon 2nd place from each side will play for the 3rd place plaque. Then the winners from each side will play for the Championship....these will be at Dripping. Lake Travis will host the Consolation games....5th vs.5th, 4th vs 4th, and 3rd vs 3rd which will be the Consolation Champiomship. All games will be 7 innings 5 game guarantee. ANNOUNCEMENTS: I plan to add a tournament listing page to the webpage at www.texasprepsoftball.net this weekend so you can start looking for it on Monday. Also, I’m going to combine the email listings on the website like I did last year so you don’t have to go back and forth so much.

If you are hosting a tournament (whether full or not), please let me know so I can put them on the webpage. I need the following information for the webpage:

The Lady Panther Softball Program is proud to bring in Midwestern State University and University of North Texas to host an Elite Skills Clinic on 9/10 for 8u elite to 17u softball players looking to improve their overall game, including effective pitching(must bring your own catcher)/ catching mechanics, bunt/slapping drills, infield/outfield dynamics and power hitting fundamentals.

This clinic will feature coaches from Midwestern State University and University of North Texas that will provide hands-on training in defensive and offensive techniques and skills for the serious softball player. The major emphasis is to prepare athletes for a higher level of competition. If you are passionate about the game and/or playing at the next level sign up and be ready to learn!!!

ANNOUNCEMENTS: So far so good with our email list. I have updated the membership totals and added many new coaches today!! After a couple of days of getting emails, here are a couple more things you can do to help me out.

First, I have to thank Coach Richter or Navarro HS for an idea – he had open dates and open spots in his tournament – he used the same email, but separated the open dates and tournaments with contact information with both items – made it a lot faster today.

Second, on your contact information, please type your name and contact information instead of just leaving your email signature at the bottom. I’m not sure which phone numbers / emails you want included on this email and I already have your school at the top, so it’s redundant to do it again.

We are converting from First Class to Google Mail and it’s not going that well, so I can’t promise I’ll get your email if sent to school. Little Elm High School will be hosting two tournaments this season on February 23-25 and March 1-3. The tournaments will be comprised of two separate days of pool play. So Thursdays Teams will play only Thursdays teams and Fridays teams will only play Fridays teams. Then on Saturday there will be a Seeded Tournament with the seeds decided by Thursdays and Fridays results. There is a five game guarantee with a possible 6^th game for four of the teams. The entry fee is $275. The rules and game times are to follow. This is our 5^th year of running these tournaments in this format. It makes for a really fun weekend. All games are played at the same location on two well manicured fastpitch fields. The pool games are played back to back to back so no waiting. SOFTBALL COACHES EMAIL 2011-12 (#1)

Welcome to everyone for 2011-12 school year!! I am still going through and cleaning out and updating my email lists for the new school year. I think I have finished with 3A-5A and will continue on 1A-2A and TAPPS this week. If you know of coaches who should be on our list, please let them and me know and I’ll get them started. If you are not coaching anymore, let me know if you want off or on the list and I’ll be happy to accommodate you.

RULES FOR POSTING:

With over 600 coaches on the list and so many looking for games and having announcements, it’s taking longer for me to compile the daily emails as a service to you, but it’s a service I really enjoy being a part of. But also with the large number of coaches needing games filled, I really need your help. If you can follow the format that I’ll list below, all of our postings will be in alignment and will be really easy for me to cut and paste onto a form to send out to you all and to post on the www.texasprepsoftball.net website. Last year, I asked on several occasions to help me out on this matter and I still had to fix several posting daily and this year, I’m just not going to post them unless they are correct. I don’t want to be that way, but I really want to be efficient in serving you.

CAMPS:

Midwestern State University and University of North Texas are coming to Princeton to host an Elite Skills Clinic on 9/10 for 10u to 17u softball players looking to improve their overall game, including effective pitching(must bring your own catcher)/ catching mechanics, bunt/slapping drills, infield/outfield dynamics and power hitting fundamentals.

This clinic will feature coaches from Midwestern State University and University of North Texas that will provide hands-on training in defensive and offensive techniques and skills for the serious softball player. The major emphasis is to prepare athletes for a higher level of competition. If you are passionate about the game and/or playing at the next level sign up and be ready to learn!!!

Cost: $70 for both sessions or $40 for an individual session
