Monday, February 16, 2009 Good luck to
everyone who is starting their seasons this week! I will add all of the
schedules that you sent me last week to the website today, so if you
still want me to add yours, please send them and Ill post them today. Also, thanks
to all of you who sent condolences and prayers for our soccer player and
school over his tragic death on Thursday last week. I sent them to our
soccer staff and they wanted to thank you for your support in a trying
time. They did play their game on Friday vs. Bryan as Keiths parents
asked him to do so and I dont attend many soccer games, but I did on
Friday and was very moved by the support our student body and community
gave to those young men. Thanks again and dont forget that if you
have a situation like that where you want our support, please let me
know and the softball coaches of our state will continue to step up to

for the delay in getting an email since Monday. Ive had a computer
issue and when I was ready to send this morning, we had a tragedy at
our school. One of our popular soccer players and students committed
suicide overnight and was found this morning. Its been a really
tough morning and he was a great friend of many of my players. Several
of us sat in with our soccer coaches as they informed their players
this morning and no matter how much training we have in our
profession, the speech that I witnessed this morning is one that none
of us could ever imagine having to say and impossible to ever prepare
for. I am just now finding the time to take care of the email and I

FEBRUARY 2, 2009: There have
been some questions on the forum concerning the number of scrimmages per
week and whether we can scrimmage on Friday and Saturday or not. I had a
conversation with Coach Overton from Midland Lee (2nd VP of
the TGCA) with it and we are both a little confused with the wording of
the manual and what weve been told by the UIL in the past. We have
both received emails and phone calls concerning this issue as well.
We decided that I would call the UIL this morning (mainly because
I have a conference period early today) and will get a clarification on
the rule. As soon as I
hear from the UIL on the matter, I will post a clarification on the main
page of www.texasprepsoftball.net

SOFTBALL, Monday, January 12, 2009: ROUND ROCK PRESEASON TOURNAMENT UPDATE: It was good to see many of you at the Round
Rock Pre-Season tournament this past weekend. The facilities there are
so much better than before and look to continue to get better for next
year. I wanted to publicly thank Coach Jennifer Painter of Round Rock HS
and her booster club for continuing to host such a first class
tournament. The champion of the tournament is Houston Bellaire who
defeated Alvin, who came through the losers bracket to make it back to
the finals. I'm not sure who was 3rd and 4th, or who was the consolation
